Preamble
The purpose this document serves is to inform the public of our political platform and to emphasize what we need to change about our country. The current state of federal income is very low because of tax cuts and leeway towards the rich and companies. Government agencies do not provide the ideal amount of service because of budget cuts. With jobs now becoming more and more located out of the country, the amount of unemployed individuals increases constantly. Our foreign relationships with other countries continue to become worse and worse. The continuing of these issues will lead to future generations not being able to live the ideal American Dream every United States citizen deserves. Denying them that right denies true American values, but this can not be accomplished alone. The participation of citizens and a responsible society will help crush the problems that we face today, so future generations may have a better tomorrow.
A. Economy
We believe in putting human and ecological needs alongside earning a profit to measure success. Shifting towards a more economically sustainable way of life is more beneficial for the public. putting more jobs back into the country will help the countless individuals that are unemployed. We support the Superfund for Workers program, which helps laid off employees find comparable jobs with full pay and benefits. The importance of a more livable income is one of the Peace Party's strongest points. A universal starting income would ensure that a person would be able to afford basic food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities.
B. Drug Policy
Cannabis/Hemp is to be legalized, and medical marijuana may be prescribed to patients by their doctors. We propose the ending of the "War on Drugs", due to the fact that it has only worsened, and that mandatory drug testing violates a persons' rights. Expansion of drug counseling and the individuals that require such needs are to be provided. Changes in punishments against drugs crimes will be changed to a "first-time offense community service" punishment.
C. Foreign Policy
We foster peace, economic justice, and health of the planet. Human rights are the foundation of all international relations. We do not support any view on tyranny, and we propose that the United Nations and other countries adopt the basic values of human rights into their agenda. We support the expansion of Peace Corps and the protection of indigenous peoples in foreign countries.
D. Domestic Security/Antiterrorism
We support the investigation of any said terrorist attacks, especially 9/11 and any large corporations or political figures with any possible relations to terrorist groups or activities. We require the repeal of the US Patriot Act, as it violates many Bill of Rights and makes the checks and balances of our government invalid. Focusing on the violation of the current government of our rights is our largest focus. We support a stricter Fourth Amendment, as we believe the current government does not follow its protections of illegal searches and seizure.
E. Science and Technology
The Peace Party believes in the limited exploration of space, as current problems must be addressed. If exploration of space must continue, the demilitarization of space must come forth, as no computer-based technology or weaponry must disrupt and communications or relations within the republic or other nations. We plan to reduce the amount of human-piloted flights, as they are to costly and if anything goes wrong, NASA must be held accountable. Programs towards more sustainable resources will be created.
F. Civil Rights and Equal Rights
We demand more civil liberties, and not be censored, violated, or have our property seized if a person is suspected of being a terrorist or other such activities. We oppose the death penalty and illegal spying of the country's citizens, as we believe this violates a person's basic rights. Ending torture in prisons, such as Guantanamo Bay and other US controlled facilities, because this violates international laws and the US must be held accountable. Promoting freedom of speech for students, so they will be able to voice their concerns because they are our future. Supporting the freedom of religion, supporting the LGBT community, and the separation of state and church to be more evident.
G. Environment
Promoting a more sustainable and smart society. This planned society will not exploit animals and promote ecological sustainability. This will ensure that future generations have the resources they need in order to lead healthy and better lives. Providing communities with protection against improper waste disposal will make sure that no community suffers from any unhealthy risks caused by such activities (dumping toxic materials into water, improper disposal of trash, etc.). We will safely dispose of all waste produced, the costs toward this may be high, but keeping our planet healthy is of the utmost priority.
H. Walfare and Social Programs
We will increase the amount of affordable housing units across the country, and to introduce a negative income tax to keep the majority of adults above the poverty line. We also believe that working for welfare is slavery, and should not be practiced. And the Peace Party aims to restore government funded welfare programs. As people are entitled to housing, food, healthcare, and support during times of need. Ensuring that people of all needs have the resources they need is of the utmost importance.
I. Education
We believe every parent and child has a choice as to which type of school they go into. We demand equitable state and national funding of educational institutions; children these days do not have the resources they require to perform well in school. We recognize the option of homeschooling, and we also demand the reform of common core, as it has very poor standards and has only continuously degraded. We support any foreign languages and racial/cultural diversity in schools.
J. Healthcare
We believe on the removal of ObamaCare, as it only aims to sell more Healthcare services to the public rather than actually help. We support a "One size fits all" health care system that will prove to be affordable for everybody, as believe that it is a human right to be able to have it. The Peace Party aims to make the healthcare plan national and to make sure it universally covers its consumer. We believe that our plan would be more economical and would save money on various areas.
K. Jobs
We propose to introduce a "livable wage" because the current amount of income for a person will not accommodate all of their needs in order to lead a healthy life. This livable wage will reflect the true value of their work, as we believe employees are not regarded high enough for the work they do compared the pay they receive. This money towards a more decent income will come from money being taken out of the military fund.
L. Immigration
We propose a chance for undocumented immigrants to be able to become legalized citizens. Immigrants will not be blamed for social or economic problems no longer, as out countries was built by immigrants and we believe in the continued support of those individuals that choose to come to the US. We shall focus on any refugees from countries in turmoil or times of famine, war, or poverty. We should increase our attention towards the Mexican border, because a large portion of immigrants come through states bordering it.
M. Taxes
Improving tax rates and providing leeway and tax cuts for the rich and corporations will help state and federal taxes become more progressive. Also, providing a tax on carbon-based resources (coal, oil, etc), and increased tax rates on imported goods, will help the nation lean towards non degradable resources. Middle class and lower class citizens suffer from higher taxes, while the upper class receive tax cuts. This should be reversed, with the upper class receiving higher tax rates and moderate tax rates for the lower and middles classes. We provide a plan that environmental taxes should replace income tax, to further move corporations towards being more economically friendly.
N. National Debt and Budget
Cutting the military budget by 25% and putting that money into more social programs that actually need the money. We devise a plan to introduce a higher tax rate on the wealthy in order to produce more federal revenue to solve the National Debt and put more many where it is needed. Increase budgets for programs related to education, social programs, and economically sustainable programs. Increase affordable housing and asking the people for opinions as to where the money shall be placed.
O. Abortion
The women's right to do as she pleases with her body is non-negotiable. The peace Party is prochoice and if a woman requires an abortion than she will be provided with safe, legal opportunities to do so. The "morning-after" pill and birth control will be made more affordable and be able to purchase over the counter, without a prescription. And government funded programs informing women about these forms of contraception will be made more prevalent. Abortion will also be cover be healthcare.
